Tuscan wines and tours in Chianti and Val D'Orcia

Tuscan Wines: a journey through glasses and enchanting landscapes in the heart of Italy

Tuscany is a region in the heart of Italy, world-famous as the home of the famous writer Dante Alighieri, but also widely appreciated for its extensive hills and rich wine tradition. With a centuries-long history of producing high quality wines, Tuscany offers a wide variety of options to satisfy even the most discerning palates. From robust reds to elegant whites, these bottled wines are a true paradise for wine lovers. But the real experience spills out of the goblet and into the countryside: Tuscan nature is a spectacle to be seen, to be walked, to be experienced.

Let's see together the best Tuscan wines not to be missed!

The richness of Tuscan wines: the reds

Typical Tuscan wines are known for their exceptional quality and wide variety of flavors. Speaking of reds, most of the finest wines come from Sangiovese vines. It is impossible, among these, to not mention Chianti, an excellent companion for red meats, and Brunello di Montalcino, from the Montalcino area and known for its complexity and longevity.
This is followed by Nobile di Montepulciano, another Sangiovese-based red wine from the Montepulciano region, which is distinguished by its soft but complex character. Finally, it is worth mentioning the Super Tuscan, a category of wines that often combines Sangiovese grapes with other varieties, such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Some famous Super Tuscans also include Sassicaia and Ornellaia, world-renowned Tuscan wines that you will fall in love with.

The richness of Tuscan wines: the whites

Turning instead to white wines, there also are some world-famous names to be sad such as Vernaccia di San Gimignano, a wine with a fresh character, lively acidity and floral aromas. This white wine is often associated with the medieval town of San Gimignano and is an excellent choice to accompany fish and seafood dishes. There are also other famous white grape varieties such as Vermentino, grown mainly in coastal areas and used as a basis of wines with fresh and fruity flavors, with notes of citrus, aromatic herbs and minerality. Ansonica, also known as Inzolia, is another white grape variety used to produce very delicate Tuscan white wines. There are still many names to mention such as Trebbiano or Malvasia, but we would not like to reveal too many details and spoil the experience of hearing these curiosities directly from local producers!
